I have submitted again 3 pictures taken in Africa and this one has been selected. There are many excellent pictures submitted in this weekly contest, and I always wonder about the criteria of selection. I am very happy that my majestic elephant bull has made it into the weekly selection. I think my picture works mainly as a good ambassador to defend the case of ban on ivory trade and to enforce anti-poaching.

In week 11 and 13 each one of my close-up pictures of mountain gorillas done in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park has been selected and published on-line. This photo competition is open for amateurs and professionals and there are many awesome pictures to be seen in the galleries.
This is a prestigious international photographic competition sponsored by Canon and Landrover and it is worthwhile to see the fantastic pictures submitted. Africa is such an amazing continent and for sure many times a photographer's delight. Not to forget Africa's dark sides with all the human and environmental catastrophies.I have submitted 3 pictures and I am happy that one of them made it to become one of the finalist of week 17.
It was not a big competition as there were only995 photos by 117 candidates submitted. In the mammal category 6 photos were ranked, 2 of them were mine. I am happy that the jury considered them as good pictures as I love both of these shots. Not clear however, what they are doing with the non-winner pictures.
